Gwen smiled and nodded in the right places as Rhys puttered about the kitchen. She was mulling over a problem from work and hadn't heard a word he'd said.

Even as a plod she'd felt the need to protect Rhys from her job. Finding dead junkies in alleys was something he didn't need to be burdened with, but Torchwood was different. Everything was secret, especially the cool stuff that Rhys would love to hear about.

As Rhys stirred his sauce on the stove, she wondered if she deserved him. He certainly didn't deserve the way she so much held back.

Sorry about that, Chief. It took me a while to get this one out of my head. Admittedly, actually starting to write stuff instead of mulling over ideas usually does that. You think I'd know that by now. Stupid head!
