Ritual

RitualAndrew leapt back from the counter with a squeal. But when the toaster danced across the counter again, he ran from the kitchen only to collide with Rachel.

Recovering her balance with practiced ease, Rachel brushed past and turned to glare at the appliance. She held up a bag of coffee beans. "Who loves you?" The bag vanished from her hand and Rachel blew the toaster a kiss.

Andrew looked at her blankly.

Rachel led him back into the kitchen. "Let me explain the ritual involved in getting a coffee without offending the Retjull demons that live in the toaster..."

LOL! Brilliant. Thank God I don't have to do any rituals to get my cup of coffee ...

Rachel does have the Retjulls well in hand. She brings them offerings of coffee and they worship her as a demi-god.

LOL! I love that! I don't really follow the Wolf & Declan-verse series you do, or much of what you write, being that I'm not familiar with the fandoms, but a cursed toaster is a universal thing. I, personally, used to regularly belittle and humiliate my toaster in hopes of keeping its morale low so it wouldn't subjugate any of my other appliances and take over the kitchen. I adore the image presented by this story ^_^

Nice to see you drop by.

The toaster isn't so much cursed as infested with small coffee-addicted demons. If you don't perform the correct rituals before raiding their coffee supply, they get tetchy.

I just had a weird flashback to Real Ghostbusters cartoons. ^_~

I didn't see much of that, so I hope the flashback was good.

I wouldn't be the least surprised if Andrew and Rachel find they get along famously...

Love the blown kiss afterwards. That's totally something I'd do. ;P

Typo: "Who do you love?"

I'm sure you have much geeky, researching joy. Or at least many adventures rescuing from the Retjulls.

Got the typo. Thanks!

In his defence, the Retjull demons in the toaster were having a lend of him.

*snicker* Air-kissing toasters... what IS the world coming to?

It would look that way to Andrew, but Rachel is talking to the demons that live in the toaster.

Technically, the demons that live in the toaster, but they didn't show themselves to Andrew at the time.

Oh, dear. Caffeine-addicted toaster demons. That can't be all that good.

They were removed from a client's office and Rachel gave them a home in the kitchen. They like her. A lot. They do tend to catch out the unwary though.

Sounds like everybody's happy, then. Still, she might want to keep 'em on decaf, just in case. *grins*

Caffiene demons on decaf would be a bad thing. I may have to remember that for future use.

*laughs* That was amazing. Despite all of his annoying habits, I can't help but like Andrew. Both were wonderfully characterized here.

That's why I like Andrew, he'd annoying but you couldn't stay mad at him for long.
