"What is this?" Xander eyed the bowl suspiciously.

"It's breakfast."

"It's what's leftover from the bottom of the boxes."

Andrew held up a Tupperware container filled with the same mix. "No, I mixed it myself. There's dates and ginger in there too."

Xander pushed the bowl away. "That is not food."

"You wanted something different."

"Different from what's here." Xander made an all compassing motion. "I want a taste of home. Is Cap'n Crunch too much to ask for?"

Andrew snagged the rejected bowl, added milk and spoke through a mouthful of cereal. "Next time you'll be getting smoked kippers."

Xander's right. That is not food...
Though I'm not exactly sure what Captain Crunch is (except for the fact it is obviously breakfast cereal) - it does seem to be a staple food to Americans *goes to google*

It's some weird, sugary mirror-world breakfast cereal, where the box it comes in is likely healthier and more nutritious for you.

Xander's wrong. It is food. Yum!

The ginger I could handle but not the dates...
I think my kids eat something similar, called Breakfast Boulders over here, it does not appear to be a cereal for adults (although in its favour it isn't made with wheat which from my pov is good).

We eat a massive amount to dried dates at my place. Everyone loves them.

Ick, Cap'n Crunch?! :P (Granted, I've grown out of most sugar cereals)

But the dates and ginger, that would make 'em good. Heck, just skip the cereal and have the dates and ginger. ;)

I can't handle the sugar cereals any more either.

The dates and ginger do make a good addition to regular cereals, I don't think much could make the over sugary ones palatable.
