Rachel poked disconsolately at her dinner with her free hand. "I hate this."

"I know, Ray." Dawn patted her friend's leg. "It's your own fault for managing to injury yourself in another weird way."

Spike snorted and contemplated eating the officious little administrator. Declán had called them from the hospital and now they were all gathered around Rachel's bed. The woman with the clipboard and zero medical experience had insisted on a suicide watch, because she didn't believe you could accidentally cut your wrist while washing the dishes.

"This mushy stuff tastes like old socks, Dawn."

"It is hospital food."

Of COURSE it's possible to cut your wrist while washing dishes. Why, I -- um -- I mean, so I've heard ... Never mind.

If you want to get technical, it was probably more hand than wrist, and not terribly serious. Just the same, I can testify that it's possible -- especially for me.

And I've done it TWICE! ::headdesk:: To the same wrist! Oi!

Okay, to be entirely fair, only the first time did the doctor ask me if I was "feeling alright" in his oh-so-subtle tone while he stitched me up. The second time, the nurse just rolled her eyes after she checked my medical history.

Hey, Wolf, guess what? There's a weird bump forming under the newly healed over scar. It doesn't hurt, but it wiggles when I touch it. My Nan, a retired nurse herself, supposes I've probably still got a tiny piece of broken glass in there. But she says it should work its way out on its own, sooner or later. That'll be fun! ;P

I thought it was a bit cruel to inflict my bike accident on Rachel. Which means someone else will get it sooner or later.

I don't know if it's a good or bad thing to have a wacky list of injuries on your records. At least you didn't get grilled the second time around.

Glass fragments working their way out does not sound pleasant. Although the wiggly bit sounds entertaining.
